ADI-diary.NEWSLETTER
We want to welcome our new member: Triple “A” Driving School from New Zealand to the ADI-diary user community. Version 5To produce ADI-diary for the upcoming Version 5, which is due in a couple of weeks, our team took on board most of the suggestions and requests from our users. The new version brings new features and improves existing ones, which results in better software, better communication and synchronisation and of course – a slightly new look.New Features and improvementsDriver’s Record
In addition to Pupils Progress Report, ADI-diary now has Driver’s Records page where you can mark your pupils as you would using the Driving Standards Agency Chart.
Courses Highlights
The new highlight scheme has been implemented for the diary view, which allows the use of modern gradient colours.
Server
The main goal of this essential upgrade is to launch the server capability, which will allow connection using IP addresses and make ADI-diary wireless. The older version of shared mode is still supported.
Vehicle Mileage
Date and the mileage of your vehicle added to the Instructor Profile.
Import
Many tables now are capable of importing data from other applications. For example: Pupil List can be imported from Excel.
Settings
It is possible now to open the same diary with different settings, such as postcodes, rates and subjects. Software settings are automatically forwarded to all computers across the LAN.
Live Backup (Backup as you go)
Formerly known as Audit (which is still supported), allows you to restore individual records. This resembles Undo function in a Word Processor.
Synchronisation
Background synchronisation is introduced which is capable of sending and receiving updates without your interaction.
The final list of all new features and improvements will be published on our website at a later date.
Better synchronisation is achieved using a new system which analyses data updates, discarding those which are not valid. This greatly improves communication and speed of transmission. For security reasons, the old version only allowed deletion of lessons. To perfect the synchronisation especially for Mirror-Diary use, the new version is capable of remotely removing unwanted records in other tables on all computers in the network. An option is given to users to allow or disallow this operation. ForumIt is well known that the gap between user and developer is not small and therefore, developers usually do not see the software they create from the point of view of the driving instructor. To reduce the gap between our team and instructors we are planning to open ADI-diary Forum, where all users can share their knowledge, give suggestions or ask a question. Our team is looking for volunteers who are willing to become an ADI-diary forum moderator. Responsibility of forum moderator:
This is a very exciting role which will allow you to be in the very midst of the ADI-diary community discussion and we are looking forward to hearing from any interested instructors. Please forward your application to anita@adidiary.net
